Forest Green Rovers fans have been left in frustration after rumours of new manager to replace Robbie Savage.
Rovers are on the hunt for a new manager after the former, Robbie Savage, left the club by mutual consent to take the managerial job at Peterborough United.
Savage left the club after just one full season, guiding Rovers to seventh in the National League last season, and 16th after 11 games played this season.
However, the Welsh manager leaving hasn’t come to the dismay of Rovers fans,
In an interview with Rovers fan Jack Smith, he gave his thoughts, “I would say 99.9% of fans are happy… He’s too emotional, he needs to take a step back”
The man rumoured for the job in South Gloucestershire is 36-year-old Ebbsfleet United boss Josh Wright.
The London born manager took over at Ebbsfleet United in December 2024 and has overseen steadying a sinking ship.
The Fleet have had multiple financial issues in the past few years, resulting in a postponed start to their National League South season.
Despite the issues Wright took the job in his stride and six games in Ebbsfleet remain unbeaten this league season and sit in 14th despite having played four games less than most sides this season.
Due to the impressive start to the season the young manager has been on the radar of Forest Green Rovers, however the rumour has had mixed opinions in the Rovers fanbase.
“He’s an inexperienced manager, probably not what we need right now… It’s not time for someone so inexperienced; we need someone like Stuart Maynard or Luke Williams.”
“With the situation the club is in at the moment, we can’t take risks, we’re closer to the bottom then the top.”
Due to the shaky start, there is a growing frustration within the fanbase with targeting a manager whose only managed one full season in professional football.
Both Stuart Maynard and Luke Williams were named as the most popular choices to replace the former Macclesfield manager.
“Both have proven it at this level with Maynard at York and Williams at Notts County, so either of those two I’d be happy with”
“There have been mentions of Holloway and Mark Hughes, but it’s boring football, as a fan it’s not what I want to see. But if we can get Maynard or Williams, it would be good to start the seasons again, a clean slate”
