The M5 was closed in both directions yesterday as motorists rallied together to talk a woman down from a bridge near Gloucester.
Concerned drivers called the police after she was spotted on a bridge over the motorway.
The incident happened at around 6pm and the road was closed for less than half an hour.
After police arrived at the scene, the woman was taken to hospital.
No more details about the incident have been revealed by police.
