A woman suffered puncture wounds and bruising after she was attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier on Cleeve Hill in Cheltenham last Thursday.
The bull terrier approached the woman, who was walking her dogs around 7:30 and 8am between the golf club and wash pool, before it became aggressive and tried to attack them.
Multiple sheep were attacked by dogs on Cleeve Hill previously, but this is the first time an incident of a dog attack has involved a person in Cheltenham this year.
The woman picked up her dog to prevent it getting hurt, but the bull terrier turned on her, leading to multiple injuries, including puncture wounds from the teeth and bruising.
She later stated that the owner of the Staffordshire bull terrier made no attempt to stop the attack or recall his dog, not providing any contact details before walking off.
The police are now investigating the alleged attack.
