As COVID-19 continues to batter the country and the NHS, Cheltenham General Hospital has been forced to close their Aveta birth center for a period of up to two months.

The closure will allow for other vital services, such as chemotherapy treatment and surgeries considered to be high-risk, to continue.
With this closure, many expectant mothers are now in the lurch as to where they will be able deliver their baby.
The Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust told Gloucestershire Live, “ Women who have been booked to have their babies at Aveta will be contacted to explain the temporary closure”…”explain the alternative options.”
“We fully understand these very difficult, but necessary decisions, are upsetting”https://t.co/75l4qXH3Q9

Expectant mothers will be offered the option of a home birth if deemed safe or a transfer to another midwife-led unit at either Stroud Maternity or Gloucester Royal.
