Cheltenham Town lost 2-1 away to Morecambe on Saturday leaving the Gloucestershire side 18th in League One, with only one win in five games.
Goals from Jensen Weir and Kieran Phillips secured all three points for the home side.
“We’ve given up a couple of cheap goals.
“We’ve been in the same position numerous times, but we haven’t shown enough composure to work an opening for ourselves.
“Us and Morecambe are similar stature in clubs, I think we will be in a scrap, and they will be in a scrap, so if you come here, and you can’t win, don’t get beat and don’t cough up the opportunities that we did.”
Striker Dan N’Lundulu played his last game for the club after parent club Southampton recalled his loan, to send him back out to Bolton Wanderers for the remainder of the season.
“He’s really enjoyed it, he recognises it has been really good for him, he’s developed as a player and as a person.
“Dan has been good for us, I think we’ve been good for him, as far as I know he’s going to go to Bolton, which will be a different challenge, it will be a different stimulus for him in his career.
“I said to Dan a few weeks ago whatever you decide, make sure you keep giving it your all, give your best and if you do that, if you decide to stay then brilliant, if you decide that somewhere else is what you need, then we will give you a hug, send you on your way and wish you all the best.
“You’ve got to respect that Bolton is a terrific club to play for as well”.
The departure of N’Lundulu leaves a hole to fill and Elliot was keen to fill that as soon as possible, amongst a couple of other areas.
“We are looking at centre forwards, the injury to Lewis Freestone has changed the focus a little bit, we will probably have to do something in that area and then there’s lots of variables from there, you don’t know how much of the budget that will eat into and all the rest of it.”
Looking forward to the rest of the season and the next few games, the Englishman spoke about the encounter that will take place at The Completely-Suzuki Stadium on Tuesday in the EFL Trophy against Salford”.
“It’s a big game for the football club, it doesn’t get any easier, 6 out of the last 8 away from home and that tallies up, but we go into a run now with a few more home games, fixtures don’t get any easier.
“It will be a good game Tuesday, they are good team, it will be a tough one, I think the rest room will be wounded off the back of today, it’s a big game for us and they will be hurting, at least we have a game on Tuesday, and they can come out and vent the frustration.”
