After a poor start to the season, Cheltenham Town have finally picked up their first win of the season against Cambridge on Saturday, with a new man in charge is this the change that the Robins needed?
I spoke to Tewksbury-based and lifelong Cheltenham Town fan, Thomas Cromwell.
It took Cheltenham Town 992 minutes to finally get a goal, The Robins tied an EFL record after failing to score for 11 successive league games. The goal finally came through striker Rob Street against Derby County. Cromwell took to X (Twitter) to share his thoughts

Since Darrell Clarke’s appointment, the Robins have now scored four goals and secured their first league win of the season on Saturday against Cambridge United.
“The win against Cambridge was very good, we played very well. Curtis Thompson especially, played them off the park, he was picking up everything and wasn’t afraid to battle either.”
“He was the player we thought we’d signed but we hadn’t seen enough of, I feel he’s someone that Darrell Clarke can get the best out of. I feel that also goes for Will Goodwin.”
Will Goodwin signed for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Championship side Stoke City in January 2023. The 21-year-old scored his first goal for the Robins in Tuesday night’s clash with Blackpool in which he went and scored a brace.
Cromwell strongly believes that Darrell Clarke is the right man for the job. “In the Blackpool game, we were 3-1 down at halftime, Clarke decided to make four subs, which shows he’s not here to mess about, he wants the best for us. He’s someone who’s not afraid to make bold moves”.
Darrell Clarke is known for his big presence, Coming into a job where Cheltenham were winless and hadn’t scored a single goal, he’s someone who clearly backs his own ability and isn’t scared to face a challenge.
