Bristol City frustrated with officials as penalty-less run extended during stalemate with Watford

Bristol City couldn’t make possession count as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Slaven Bilic’s Watford, the Robins making it two wins from their last 14 games in all competitions as they head into the World Cup break.

Nigel Pearson’s side couldn’t have started better as Nahki Wells picked out Tommy Conway in the box, only for the Scottish forward to head over and waste what was the home side’s best chance of the first-half.

Highlights from Ashton Gate

Having lost 3-1 to Lincoln City on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, it was surprising to see City stop Bilic’s Hornets from even registering a shot on target. However, Pearson was left just as frustrated as the travelling fans, as Wells twice had penalty appeals waved away, the first after Dan Gosling appeared to raise his boot to the forward’s head.

The Robins looked to have broken the deadlock late in the second-half, only for Andreas Weimann’s header to be tipped around the post by Daniel Bachmann, the draw leaving Pearson’s side 18th in the Championship while Watford climb to fourth.
