BREAKING: UEFA Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester City to be played in Porto with fans

It has been confirmed that the UEFA Champions League between Manchester City and Chelsea will be played at Porto’s Estadio do Dragao.

The final was going to be played in Istanbul, but Turkey was added to the ‘red list’ of at-risk countries by the UK government last week.

If the final had been played in Turkey, attendees would have had to quarantine for 10 days on their return. Fans travelling to Portugal won’t have to quarantine, but they will need to take COVID-19 tests before leaving.

There is expected to be 20,000 people at the final, including 6,000 fans from each team.

The final takes place on May 29 between Chelsea and Manchester City, after they beat Real Madrid and Paris St Germain in their semi-finals respectively. There was speculation that the final would be played at Wembley, but Portugal has been picked as the location. It’s the third time they have hosted a final in the last eight years.

Chelsea beat Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
