Sam Bytheway on Gloucester against Bristol Bears in Monday’s Gallagher Premiership clash

Gloucester face a tricky test on Monday when they face top of the Gallagher Premiership Bristol Bears. The Cherry and Whites may still only be 10th in the league but they have won three out of their last four Gallagher Premiership matches, however Bristol still promise to be a difficult challenge as Sam Bytheway tells Park Life Sport.

“It looks like a difficult game for Gloucester, Bristol are a really good side. Losing to Exeter a couple of weeks ago has only given them the drive to get even better. They’ve got some of their stars back, Semi Radrada, Callum Sheedy and even rumours Harry Thacker could be back as well.”

As if that isn’t hard enough already for Gloucester, they will travel to Ashton Gate on Monday to face a team that they have a very poor record against having lost 4 out of the last 5 games against Bristol. However not all hope is lost for Gloucester and they can definitely be a threat to Bristol.

“Bristol don’t have many weaknesses but maybe in the set-pieces and breakdown so if Gloucester can win those areas and hit Bristol in the ruck and disrupt them that’s where you can beat Bristol. I think Gloucester do have the ability to do that with Jordy Reed and Lewis Ludlow. It’s also up to Gloucester to get it out to players like Louis Rees-Zammit.”

Welsh international Louis Rees-Zammit has been a standout performer for Gloucester all season and his performances for his club side have seen him become a key part of the Welsh side and be named in Warren Gatland’s British and Irish Lions side for the tour of South Africa.

“He’s no longer a secret weapon like he was last year, everyone knows about what he can do and the dangers he possesses. But he’s still one of the brightest talents in world rugby and one that everyone is enjoying watching at the moment. Bristol have got the players to potentially neutralize him and stop his speed, but he’s still such a good player and I’m looking forward to watching him.”

It certainly looks like it could be an exciting game and Gloucester will be looking to pull off an upset when they kick off at 7:45 against Bristol at Ashton Gate
