A Dark Switch: Christmas light event funded by animal abusers

The people of Ledbury have been left furious after the discovery of donation money sourced from animal abusers was discovered to be used for the annual light switch on event.

The council accepted a donation of £1,400 from Sequani, to fund craft items for the event.

Sequani have used animals to test products such as herbicides and pesticides often resulting in the death of the animal or extreme harm. Beagle puppies are between 16-20 weeks old when they get sent from Marshal Bio Resources acres in Cambridgeshire to Sequani.

A process known as ‘gavage’ is often used on the animals, which is forced administration of drugs via a throat tube that gets pushed down to the belly.

However, beagles aren’t the only ones, toxicity testing on pregnant animals such as pigs, rats and mice is also being conducted.

A candlelit march through Ledbury town on the 17th at 4:30pm has been organised to remember the animals that have suffered inside Sequani.

Sequani was one of five other company donations that was used to provide free crafting and face painting to the event, for its entire day.

One online commenter said, ‘That’s disgusting. Do they know the lights are funded by blood money.’

Whilst animal testing on cosmetics has been banned, experimental procedures are still legal. With 3 million UK procedures on living animals carried out in 2021 alone.
