At just 18 years old, Zak O’Sullivan will be making his Formula 2 debut over in Bahrain with expectations high.
O’Sullivan comes off the back of a satisfactory second over in other feeder series Formula 3, just 45 points behind champion, Gabriel Bortoleto who has signed on with the McLaren driver development programme.
The Williams Academy driver has posed as particularly confident and has belief in his new position of fighting for the Championship this year.
With a great bank of experience, the Brit was fortunate enough to take part in FP1 for Williams at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix before returning a few days later for the young drivers’ test.
Not only will O’Sullivan be adapting to a new championship, but this season is the first time in his career that he will be racing in ART colours.
Growing up in the Cheltenham area, O’Sullivan was raised in a family of petrol heads and claims he has always had an interest in cars during his early years.
With a couple of local karting tracks and Prescott Hill Climb nearby, the influence and platform given to motorsport in the area is present.
The eighth FIA Formula 2 season is set to begin in Sakhir Bahrain on 29 February-2 March.
