The next round of the FA Cup is around the corner and Cheltenham Town will be playing AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane.
Cheltenham have up until now had a 1-1 tie against Gillingham and a 1-0 replay win.
Robins manager Michael Duff told Gloucestershire Live after the win against Gillingham that he thought “considering the balance of the game, we could have won by more”. Also adding that the Robins have to take more chances.
There is a real competition for places at the top of the Cheltenham team. Which is a flip from last year. The problem last year was the back end of the pitch, Duff admits there was not many to choose from in centre forward area.
Duff says Ellis Chapman felt his groin in training last week ruling him out of the Gillingham game but the extent of the injury is not yet known.
Second round opponents Wimbledon knocked out Guiseley in their first round match. Their next game sees them travel to Portsmouth in their League One tie on Saturday.
Duff says they have a tough game this coming Saturday against Shrewsbury and they will be looking forward to the first half of that.
Wimbledon’s home ground Plough Lane is a brand new stadium that will be looking forward opening their doors to fans. The pitch has not been played on since 1991.
The Dons’ performance has been similar to Cheltenham so predictions say it could be a close call and an even more exciting game. Cheltenham Town will play AFC Wimbledon away in round two over the weekend December 4.
