Gloucestershire stun Southampton with last gasp winner in 83 point thriller

Gloucester University returned to winning ways in emphatic style as they snatched victory with the last play of the game at Wide Lane Sports Ground

Alfie Bennett’s 80th minute try ensured the visitors returned home with all five points as the Blue’s closed the gap on second placed Bristol.

After falling 19-0 down inside quarter of an hour, tries from Joe McDean and Joe Langbridge reduced the deficit to 19-12, before the home side scored a fourth to reach half time with a 26-12 lead. 

The scoring continued as debutant Judah Vasu crossed, followed soon after by the in-form Kyran Dillon who made it 31-24 with a clinical finish.

George Moorse claimed Gloucester’s fifth to draw the visitors level, before the comeback was completed by scrum-half Bennett who secured the 38-45 win.
