As the first day of spring approaches, the weather disagrees and continues to give blistering blizzards and crisp nights. But there’s nothing like shutting the curtains, sparking up the log fire and putting your feet up with the 7 best books to keep you cosy.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Delve into the snowy world of Narnia with Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy with this children’s classic. Narnia, a frozen wonderland filled with wonder and mystery which is also under the slavery of the white witch. But the return of Aslan, the great lion, signals huge changes for the mythical land.

Girl on the Train

The Snow Queen

Meet Kay, a young boy who is minding his own business until the evil snow queen kidnaps him and takes him away. His friend Gerda goes on a quest to rescue him. This book was the foundation for of the popular animated film Frozen so if the cold never bothered you, let it go and escape into the night.

The Hobbit

Moving away from the snowy theme and jumping (not simply walking) into the world of Mordor. A classic bestseller from Tolkien and a must read for everyone. Protagonist Bilbo Baggins is comfortable at home until Gandalf the wizard pulls him away on a dangerous quest.

The Time Machine

H.G Wells’ inventive story throws the main character into 802,701AD but it isn’t as utopian as once thought, in fact it’s quite the opposite with incredibly descriptive writing. Definitely need a blanket for this one! A short read which is perfect while you’re waiting for the cold weather to blow over.
