Marks and Spencer are now widening their target audience by reaching the platform, TikTok and their main star is Percy Pig.
M&S’s Percy Pigs are a memorable treat for the younger generation, in fact many Gen Z’s have admitted that their soul reason for going to M&S is for this sugary treat.
M&S, whose normal customers are older people, have been using the younger generations craving for Percy Pig’s to their advantage and have been marketing Percy Pig pretty much everywhere.

Along with posting quirky videos on TikTok, which have been collecting a lot of views, M&S has also been widening their collection of Percy Pig items. They are now selling different varieties of the sweet itself – Percy Pig ice cream, a Percy Pig birthday cake and a stuffed toy which can be spotted in all of their TikTok Videos.

In their TikTok videos they replicate popular trends with their Percy Pig toys and TikTok is loving it. They have reached 27k followers and on their most popular video, they got 500k views.
The memory of the upper-middle class, older generation shoppers has now been replaced with Percy Pig mania and a flood of Gen-Z’s have come with the wave.
Although Percy Pig is the front man of the show, M&S have now been showing off another Gen Z treat ‘Colin the Caterpillar’.
Most Gen Z’s remember this phenomenal birthday treat and to see him interact with Percy and Penny Pig is a treat in itself.
Alongside these sweet treats, M&S’s ready meals can be seen dotted around their TikToks showing their future plan to widen their products.
Percy Pig mania will hopefully carry on it’s journey and may be followed by ‘Colin the Caterpillar’ and keep the younger generation begging for more.
