There’s two mouth-watering ties to look forward to in this years Worcestershire FA Senior Cup semi-final with the stand out game being Midland Premier League Worcester City who will go head-to-head with Kidderminster Harriers of the National League North.
The other tie will see Southern League Premier’ Redditch United take on West Midlands Premier side Pershore Town.
Last time Worcester City and Kidderminster played each other in a competitive tie was in the National League North back in January 2016 where the score finished 2-1 to Harriers.
The two sides did however play in a pre-season friendly match at Worcester’s Claines Lane last season where City came out 2-0 winners.
Since the last time the two sides were competing in the same league together Worcester have been down a rather rocky road.
City spent six years homeless since vacating the iconic St Georges Lane in 2013 playing their home games in various grounds including Kidderminster’s Aggborough stadium.
Despite all the uncertainty City announced in 2019 that they will play their home games back in Worcester at the Worcestershire FA headquarters on Claines Lane.
Kidderminster on the other hand have cemented a regular place in the National League North which is the sixth tier of English football.
Momentum though is currently with the Harriers after an impressive FA Cup run this season most recently beating Championship side Reading 2-1 in the third round of the competition.
Despite this tie against Worcester City being an important one there’s no doubt Harriers will have all their focus on the FA Cup fourth round when they welcome Premier League giants West Ham to Aggborough in what will be an historical game for the club.
Redditch United will face Pershore Town for the first time when the two teams battle it out for a place in the final. United are currently not in great form after losing their last two league games against Stourbridge and Banbury.
Pershore on the other will be ecstatic after their dramatic quarter-final 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Bromsgrove Sporting after the game finished 3-3 after full time.
All ties are expected to be played the week commencing the 7th of February 2022.
