Forest Green manager David Horseman admitted it’s been a season of big potential but no execution after a win against a side above them this season Walsall as they build up for a clash with Colchester “It shows our potential for sure, there’s a level of consistency which we are obviously missing but we feel we don’t have our full-strength squad, we’ve not even been close yet”.
“It’s really important that we start to pick up points full stop we know there’s some good teams we go to Mansfield next week its not about the opposition but if we beat them (Colchester) we go right up behind them and you’re only a little run away from leaping up the table, you just don’t want to be playing massive catch up”. But FGR can head into this game with a buzz of excitement following their recent victory and their last three encounters against Colchester the Rovers have won all three and can hope to continue that streak.
The Rovers host Colchester this weekend at the New Lawn , and it’s a game that may have come at the right time after a midweek cup win on penalties against Walsall, morale is high for the Greens after they have been on the backend of five successive league defeats. Horseman reflected on midweeks win over Walsall being seen as a mood lifter “Yeah, it just reminds ourselves that we are a good team, got good players and to show the togetherness and it was a nice feeling coming in on Wednesday to train”.
“We need that support, that noise. Stick by us” – David!👊

It hasn’t been a campaign to remember for Forest Green so far as they sit 24th in League two, the recently relegated League one side had been tipped by supporters and pundits to at least be challenging for a top half finish or even pushing into play off positions, but this season has gone far different from expected.
And to pile even more pressure onto the Rovers they are pointless at home this season, which isn’t a stat to go gloating about, it’s been a frustrating season for all, players, manager and most importantly the fans.
Regarding the squad for Colchester and upcoming games Horseman was excited to say” I imagine over the next week we might see a slightly different Forest Green team which should be exciting for everybody”.
As for injuries “Jacob and Callum come through the game they were only meant to play 45 they have come through absolutely fine, Dabo is absolutely fine had another good week of training, we’ve not lost anybody else and Jordan Garrick completed rondos and warm ups next week he’ll become non-contact training but we’ll find a way where he’s pretty much involved all training just not getting kicked, Callum Jones is close to that as well maybe next week and the week after hoping to have Jordy( Moore-Taylor) back on the grass and the week after that Nathan Holland, it’s the first time I can see a light at the end of the tunnel in terms of injuries”.
