Johanna Konta lost 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the third round of the Italian Open in Rome against Latvian Jelena Ostapenko.
The 27-year-old today led the first set comfortably but unfortunately couldn’t keep the quality up in the second set which has been a recent theme for the Brit.
The game lasted 2 hours and 13 minutes and Konta in the first set managed to break the 20-year old’s serve twice to lead 4-1 but then served out.
The reigning Roland Garros champion, Ostapenko will now play either Maria Sharapova or Daria Gavrilova in the quarter finals.
Parents got me this for my birthday. Very appropriate. They know me so well. ???? pic.twitter.com/4U8Y5TLWMo
