The Great British Bake-Off final is here!

After another entertaining season of Britain’s most loved food show, fans await eagerly for the final taking place this evening on Channel 4. Over the last nine weeks, nine contestants have been eliminated and it is finally time for Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith to decide this year’s winners. However, who will be presented with the honour?

In last’ week’s semi-final, the contestants were challenged to create a selection of patisseries. We saw Syabira make a DNA helix, Abdul made a rocket to celebrate humanities achievements in space, Janusz Krokan celebrated ‘Brighton Pride’, and Sandro celebrated his African heritage. As Janusz was eliminated, all eyes are on Syabira, Abdul and Sandro. But what will they be challenged to make?

Any Bake-Off fan knows that despite there being a different theme each week, there is never specific theme for the final. As always, the challenges aren’t revealed until the final airs where the finalists are expected to produce their best work, in spite the enigma of tonight’s challenges. Who is the favourite to win, though?

The probabilities suggest Sandro could be the winner with 11/8 odds. However, if we base the odds from the judges’ decisions over the last nine weeks, Syabira could be the favourite having won the Star Baker award in three consecutive weeks: six, seven and eight. But could her luck run out? We will find out tonight at 8 o’clock on Channel 4.
