The FIA reject Haas’ appeal against Red Bull

The FIA has rejected Haas’ complaint against Red Bull, claiming that the Constructor’s Championships winner had an unsafe car at the end of the Austin GP this weekend.

The complaint came against Sergio Perez who finished the race with damage to the front wing on his car, after the endplate fell off.

Haas have been shown the black and orange flag three times this season for the same damage and were left very angry following the decision.

Alpine’s Fernando Alonso was also effected by the complaint, being handed a 30-second time penalty by the stewards for finishing the race with an unsafe car following a collision with Land Stroll.

Alonso, who fell from seventh to fifteenth due to the penalty, saw his mirror fall off during the race, flying off his car while he was driving up the main straight of the race.

The French team are said to be annoyed by the decision to give their Spanish driver a penalty, with reports saying they had an official from the FIA sign off on the safety of the car before sending it back out.

“I’m not really happy about what happened out there with the other cars that are losing bits and pieces and don’t get called in like we normally do, so we will follow up on that one,” said Haas team principal Guenther Steiner.

Haas driver Kevin Magnussen went for a more blunt approach talking about the subject, simply calling it “B******t.”
