Slimbridge midfielder Myron Turner believes his side have the ability to clamber out of trouble ahead of Paulton Rovers on Saturday.
The Gloucestershire side sit bottom of the Southern League Division One South table but two positive results on the road in January has given them a much-needed boost.
A 3-0 win over Bristol Manor Farm followed up by a two-goal comeback at Bideford AFC has rejuvenated the side but must take the momentum into the second half of the season.
“The games are coming thick and fast in the next couple of months and we have to be on it every single game until the end of the season if we want to pull ourselves up the table,” adds Turner.
Having only won four games this campaign, it’s been a struggle piecing together positive performances with a squad also hampered by injuries.
“There’s always a turnover of players during the close season. Bringing new/young players to the level and being consistent is challenging,” claims Turner.
One young talent who has hit the ground running is Ethan Dunbar.
The promising forward has impressed having made the switch from Longlevens in the summer and has 13 goals in the league – joint second on the goalscoring standings and 50% of Slimbridge’s goals this season.
He’s also on a hot streak having scored five goals in their last three outings.
Turner continues: “Ethan has been very good all season let alone the last three games. His goals have been very important to us.
“He’s an honest lad, always working on trying to improve his game, and no doubt he can go up the levels later down the line.”
A fellow former Levens man, Turner has years of experience under his belt at Thornhill Park and has the faith that Slimbridge are able to save their season.
“I’m enjoying the responsibilities that come with being a senior player.
“We have some top talent in the group and if I, the other senior lads, and the coaching staff can get that to mix with the hard work we all know it takes then the positive results should continue to come!” finishes Turner.
