Robert Lewandowski has won The Best FIFA Men’s Player Of The Year Award for the second time and Alexia Putellas wins her first FIFA Women’s Player Of The Year Award.
The ceremony took place online yesterday due to the ongoing pandemic
Lewandowski helped Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga trophy this year by scoring 41 goals for the German club. His highest goal scoring season of his career broke Gerd Muller’s record of 40 goals for Munich in 1971-72.
Alexia Putellas helped the Barcelona Women’s team win their first Women’s Champions League Trophy, secured the league title and the Copa De La Reina with the club in Spain.
Other winners of the ceremony included Thomas Tuchel and Emma Hayes, as they won the Best Fifa Coach award respectively. Both manage Chelsea’s men & women’s teams.
Eduardo Mendy and Christiane Endler won The Best FIFA Men and Womens Goalkeeper award. Mendy helped Chelsea win the Champions League trophy and Endler helped win PSG’s first title in the French women’s league.
And Erik Lamela won the Puskás Award for his goal against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium, this was for his Rabona scoring technique that is known to be hard to pull off.
