Neil Critchley has been appointed manager of Queens Park Rangers following their 3-0 loss to Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
QPR returned to league action for the first time since the World Cup break, but after conceding three to Vincent Kompany’s side, they still linger in mid table and extend their winless run to six matches, with their last win dating back to the 22nd October.
Burnley cemented themselves at the top of the Championship after their impressive performance, moving three points clear of second place Sheffield United.
Goals from Johann Gudmundsson and Ian Maatsen in the first half gave their side a more than convincing lead, and in the second half, Nathan Tella rounded the game off with a third.
It extends QPR’s wretched run of form in the league, making it five losses in their last six matches.
Critchley takes over from Paul Hall, who deputised as caretaker after Michael Beale left the club for Rangers in November.
Critchley had previously managed the Liverpool under-18 and under-23 squads, which spanned seven years, before taking the managerial role at Blackpool FC in March of 2020. He signed a four-year extension at Blackpool in 2021, but his tenure was cut short just under a year later when he left the North-West to join Aston Villa as assistant manager to the ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard in June 2022.
His role at Aston Villa was not a long lived one, as he departed the club following the sacking of Gerrard in mid October, just four months into his reign.
After almost two months out, he is back and has been appointed as permanent manager of QPR on a three-and-a-half year deal, taking him through to the summer of 2026.
