Preview – Gloucester Hartpury and Exeter Chiefs Aim To Continue Unbeaten Streaks To Claim Top Spot

Gloucester-Hartpury Women hosts the Chiefs as they both aim to top the table at the start of next week with neither team losing so far this season. Both teams won comfortably in their previous fixture, which should make for an entertaining game.

Exeter are heading to Kingshlom after beating Leicester Tigers 52-10. The hosts also won their previous fixture beating Harlequin Womens 18-27.

Head To Head:

In the PWR, Gloucester-Hartpury has an excellent record against Exeter. Last season, they were unbeaten against their top-of-the-table rivals in all competitions, including a dominant semi-final win at Kingsholm. Earlier in the season, a late Mia Venner try snatched victory for Gloucester-Hartpury in a classic fixture at Sandy Park.

Ones to Watch:

Liv McGoverne has been one of Exeter’s standout players this season and was at the centre of their impressive PWR Up Series win over Gloucester-Hartpury in September. She also topped the PWR charts with the most points scored in Round 2 with 17.

Exeter’s Chiefs Captain, Poppy Leitch is one of their most senior players, making close to 100 appearances for the club. She has led the side since the 2020/21 season and has been crucial for Exeter’s consistent presence in the top four.

Second-row, Niamh Orchard will be a big threat in defence and has got through a lot of work in the opening two she has the most tackles in the league with 47.

Gloucester Hartpury Women – Steph Else captains the side, another Gloucester-Hartpury player to have trained with John Mitchell’s Red Roses this summer. The 20-year-old also captained England U20s this year, so is no stranger to leading the line. Beth Stafford joins Else in the locks. No Leai Brebner-Holder in the side as she has left the club with immediate effect a big loss for Gloucester.

Exeter Chiefs Women – Canadian duo Mikiela Nelson and Sabrina Poulin will make their first starts for the club as Exeter Chiefs Women. USA Eagle centre Gabby Cantorna will also take to the field in the starting XV following her return from WXV1 in Vancouver, Canada.
