The Gloucester Quays shopping centre has formed a partial closure due to a ‘maintenance issue’.
Customers were escorted out from areas of the outlet shopping centre on Monday over safety concerns. A section of the mall within the shopping centre remains closed.
In a tweet, the Quays added that this was ‘a precaution’ in order to ‘place the safety of customers first.’
The usual opening times are unaffected with most shops remaining open until 8pm.
However, a few retailers have had to close, including The North Face, Trespass, The Fragrance Shop, Salt Rock and Levis.
The reason for the closure is believed to be a loose pipe. Repair works have begun, and the Quays hope to be open again as usual on Thursday 19th January.
The Quays describes itself as ‘the South West’s premium designer outlet and lifestyle destination’ and is based in the vicinity of Gloucester Docks with a 200-year history.
The outlet centre also has 50 brands to shop at, as well as a cinema and lots of restaurants. Retailers such as FatFace, Molton Brown and Eden Menswear are the most recent additions to the outlet, opening their doors last year. Levis also doubled the size of their previous retail space in the Quays.
