The Grand Slam of Darts is nearly arriving with the first event starting on the Saturday, November, 11 2023 at WV Active Aldersley, Wolverhampton. 24 players announced already which leaves eight more to be announced today (Friday, 3, November 2023).
Ryan Searle:
Searle is a player I would have expected to be announced already and very surprised he hasn’t so far.
Firstly, Searle has already won his pro tour card and is on form at the moment. He recently beat Martin Lukemann in round one of the Players Championship 29 6-2 and averaging 116.36. Which is the fourth highest average of the 2023 PDC season.
Searle is ranked 16th in the world currently and won his pro tour title beating Michael Van Gerwen 8-6 who at the time was world number one
He plays Rowby-John Rodriguez
Ross Smith:
Ross Smith won the European Championship in 2022 after beating Michael Smith 11-8
Smith will face Nathan Rafferty tonight and down to form Ross Smith on paper will win this.
Stephen Bunting:
Bunting has four televised title wins so should be in high contention and with the form he is on he should have been one of the first names down.
He has only lost two in his last seven 11 leg games losing to Danny Noppert and James Wade.
He went on to reach the quarter finals of last years World Championship losing to Michael Smith.
Danny Noppert:
Noppert has won two televised finals and four non televised titles, he’s a name known to many after beating Michael Smith in the UK open last year and won PDC ProTour Titles (Players Championships) in 2018, 2022, 2023 (x2)
He could have qualified yesterday but Dirk Van Duijvenbode took that spot due the having more titles.
He will qualify if he beats Alan Soutar
