Chelsea defeated Tottenham on their own patch for the second consecutive season after a first half penalty from Jorginho snatched all three points for the Blues over their London rivals.
Chances were few and far between in the first half with both teams struggling to find their feet on the rain-drenched pitch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It was the visitors who struck first however when Eric Dier wiped out Chelsea Striker Timo Werner to award the visitors a penalty which was swiftly converted by midfielder Jorginho.
The second half was much the same with Chelsea having the better of the few chances on display, but both sides really struggling to get a hold of the ball and both keepers were not called into action too much.
It will be the German Thomas Tuchel who will be the most happy of the two managers tonight, gaining his second win on the spin, and defeating the Blues bitter rivals, despite his team having just two shots on target throughout the game.
That’s now three consecutive defeats for Spurs who are in danger of drifting out of contention for the top-four places, and manager Jose Mourinho sure to face huge scrutiny after what was another dismal showing from his Spurs side.
