Gareth Bale played 111 games scoring 41 goals for Wales stretching over a 19 year period, causing many to propose the idea of a statue for Bale to be built in the Welsh capital of Cardiff after his retirement on Monday.
Welsh manager Rob Page responded to this saying: “Of course absolutely its not just what he’s done for the football team but its Wales as a country”.
“He helped us to qualify for a Wold cup and to once again raise our profile so personally I believe he deserves all the credit he gets,” said Page.
Wales will now be looking ahead to their Euro’s qualifying campaign without Bale and the likes of Brennan Johnson, Kieffer Moore and Dan James will have huge shoes to fill.
Bale will be looking to take some time off before potentially returning to the Welsh set up in some way. Here’s what Rob Page said on that.
