With the disappointment of last season’s Championship Finals defeat to the Golden State Warriors still looming over some Celtics fans heads, the majority of the fanbase appear to be more than confident their team can go all the way this time around, especially with the current NBA campaign being a joy to watch for them so far.
Who can blame them for having high hopes? An impressive start of 19 wins and five losses sees the Celtics solidly perched at the top of the NBA Eastern Conference brimming with confidence as each game comes thick and fast.
Last night’s victory over the Nets was seen as a huge statement by the Celtics in their quest to become overall champions come the end of the season. By beating a strong Brooklyn side with all star’s Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving involved it is no wonder the basketball world is wary of The C’s impressive progress over the last 12 months.
Next up for the C’s is a five game road trip with a tough battle against the Toronto Raptors later tonight which sees the start of two back-to-back games for Joe Mazzulla’s side. Celtics will end their away trip on the 13th December in an historic matchup against rivals Los Angeles Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena.
Many people from the inside as well as the outside are eyeing up Boston to be one of the main favourites to win the NBA Championship outright let alone be involved in the 2023 Finals. One of the reasons Boston could be crowned NBA Champions is if the team continue to buy into what interim head coach Joe Mazzulla is currently implementing after the 34-year-old was appointed the role at the start of this season.
Another reason why it could be Boston’s year is clear. The C’s have a fantastic roster which has already won the Eastern Conference last as well as reaching the NBA Championship Finals. Thus, there is already a huge amount of confidence travelling through the teams veins along with a wealth of experience when it comes to play-off matches.
Lastly, if The Celtics are to go all the way this year and clinch their 18th NBA Championship Title I have no doubt their defence will have a lot to say in the outcome.
