Former Cheltenham Town goalkeeper Josh Griffiths is back at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium this weekend as the Robins take on Lincoln City in League One action.
The 20 year old made 44 league appearances for the Robins last season and manager Michael Duff is hoping the England under-18 international will get a good reception from the Cheltenham faithful.
“I’d like to think so. They never saw him, he came and played fifty games in front of no one.
“He was a big part of making history for the football club.
“When he walks down to the bottom end id like to think he’d get a clap but hopefully he’ll be picking the ball out of the net a couple times as well which would be nice.”
The Robins have had a very impressive start to the season and currently sit 12th despite having the second lowest budget in the league.
But after two defeats in a row including a 5-0 thrashing by Cambridge United in the week, Duff has had his say on his sides recent turn of form.
“It’s a bit of a reality check, take stock of where we’re at. The last two performances haven’t been good enough. But don’t throw the baby out the bath water, we’re 12th in League One.
“But there’s no givens, no guarantees that just because you’ve done well for 20 games the next 20 games will pan out the same.
“No half of football is the same.
“Sometimes you just go through bad moments. Work harder. Get back to basics and work harder that’s all we can do.”
There was some good news for the Robins in the week as defender Charlie Raglan made a first appearance in nearly three months after sustaining an injury.
The 28 year old made 40 league appearances last season and played the final 15 minutes on Tuesday evening.
Duff spoke on Raglan and where he is at in terms of his recovery as well an update on injuries heading into the Lincoln game.
“I think he (Raglan) can get thrown in now if we need him. The reason we put him on was because we thought the game had gone the other day.
“I think Rags if called upon, he’ll be ready to start.
“On the injury front, he (Conor Thomas) won’t be available but no injuries from Tuesday night which was probably the only positive.”
One of Thomas’ midfield partners Ellis Chapman is a former Lincoln City player having been born in the city and coming through the clubs academy.
The youngster has become a stalwart in the Robins side this year, playing in 18 of Cheltenham’s 20 league games.
The 20 year old mentioned his affiliation to the Imps and spoke on a certain family issue ahead of this Saturday’s tie.
“I’ll be honest when the fixtures first came out I did look to see when we were playing Lincoln and its one I’m definitely one I’m looking forward to.
“I’ve seen my Dad on Twitter a lot. I think he’d want a draw but I’ve told him he’s got to support me and Cheltenham.
“I’m looking forward to seeing a few old faces but when the whistle goes if I’m selected ill be fully concentrated on our team.”
