Gloucester Rugby team news: Line up to face Northampton on Saturday

10th place Gloucester travel to Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday to face 5th place Northampton Saints in Round 18 of the 2020/21 Gallagher Premiership. The visitors are looking to make a last ditch attempt at climbing the table to a top eight finish and grab a place in next season’s Heineken Champions Cup.

Gloucester head coach George Skivington has named his 23-man squad for tomorrow’s Gallagher Premiership game, which includes Welsh winger Louis Rees-Zammit, who was selected to play for the British Lions yesterday.

Speaking to the University of Gloucestershire yesterday, Skivington explained the importance of starting the game strongly, saying: “I think it’s really important we have a strong start; ideally we don’t want another start like last week against Newcastle where I think we were slow out of the blocks, we want to be on the front foot from the first minute on Saturday”.

Lewis Ludlow comes in as captain, as Jack Clement and Ben Morgan drop to the replacements. The Cherry and Whites come into the game having won 35-24 last time out against Newcastle Falcons at Kingsholm, whilst Northampton have won their last three games on the spin.

Along with Rees-Zammit, Cherry and Whites centre Chris Harris was also named in Warren Gatland’s Lions squad to tour South Africa this summer.

Skivington praised the Scot’s performances this season when asked whether Harris deserved a place in the Lion’s squad saying “Yes I think Chris has done all he can do for us this season really, in my opinion he’s done enough to make the squad”.
