Everybody has a hero, those people are very special. Today we are looking at who they are and why they’re special.
Today is the final day of our news week. We had originally planned to focus on Covid heroes, however with restrictions disappearing once again, and it being almost 2 years since Covid rudely interrupted our lives, we decided that appreciating those incredible people is something we can all resonate with.
Barbara is my hero. My 85 year old Grandma does so much for those around her. She cared for my Grandad in the height of lockdown, her resilience is inspiring. Every time I see her she is just a bundle of joy. She spent her life helping under privileged boys achieve their potential through the Boys Club. Despite not being allowed to go out she pushed through and made the most of a difficult situation. She is also an incredible cook and just an amazing human being.
A lot of our writers today are focusing on family members that are just incredible people. Do you know someone who is inspirational? Let us know on any of our social media @uogparklife.
These are our personal and covid heroes:

Abby’s work as a pharmacist during lockdown is simply astonishing, her stories are mind blowing. Kiera Neal spoke to her and this is that story:

While one of our writers Euan Pattison had covid, his mum really was his personal hero. Looking after him and being there while he was confined to his room.

Nurses, doctors, supermarket employees, these are the kind of people you think of when you think of key workers. Bet you hadn’t thought about gas engineers who keep houses safe across the UK. Kaleigh Pritchard’s dad did exactly that.
