Man fined £1426 in court for collecting scrap without a license.

A man has been fined £1426, after he was collecting waste without a Waste Carrier Registration.

The Gloucestershire Constabulary contacted the Stroud District Council after they suspected that someone was collecting waste illegally.

Chloe Turner, Chair of Stroud District Council’s Environment Committee has said that “this an excellent example of collaborative working between the police and the council”

Ion Toplicanu, was given a fixed penalty notice for £300 by Stroud District Council to discharge the offence, but as he didn’t pay, he was to appear in magistrate’s court.

Due to his absence from the magistrates court hearing, Topliceanu was found guilty of the original waste offence and consequently was fined £1426 by the court.
