Leggy Forest Green fall to defeat at Crawley Town

Crawley Town ended their five-match winless run beating struggling, Forest Green Rovers, 2-0 at the Broadfield Stadium on Saturday in League Two.

Danilo Orsi had Crawley ahead on 39 minutes diverting a Nicholas Tsaroulla cross past the Rovers goalkeeper from close range.

Crawley wrapped up the three points on 87 minutes when Kellan Gordan’s low cross picked out Klaidi Lolos who calmly stroked home from close range.

The win saw Scott Lindsey’s side remain 15th in League Two but stay within just five points of the playoff positions.

Steve Cotterill’s first away defeat as Rovers manager saw his side remain in the bottom two but, thanks to results elsewhere, stayed within six points of safety.

It was a fairly quiet opening 45 minutes with next to no attacking action taking place which left many of the home fans frustrated until Orsi broke the deadlock.

But the second half boasted more in terms of action with both sides battling to get a crucial victory over the line.

Rovers began to threaten the Crawley goal in search for an equaliser starting when Dominic Thompson cut in off the right to send s driven effort into the ‘keeper’s arms on 67 minutes.

Eight minutes later Rovers should have been level when Emmanuel Osadebe slipped Maxi Oyedele through on goal, but he sent his close ranged effort straight at Corey Addai.

And just before Lolos doubled Crawley’s lead, Christian Doidge saw leaping headed effort superbly clawed away Addai denying a certain equaliser.

Crawley could have been further ahead in additional time when Lolos’ low driven effort rebounded back of the post before Vincente Reyes denied Harry Forster’s follow up.

Lindsey’s side are back in action on Tuesday night when they take a short trip to face AFC Wimbledon in League Two.
