It was announced yesterday that Jeremy Lloyds, Somerset and Gloucestershire all-rounder has died at the age of 68.
Lloyds made his debut for Somerset in 1979, playing for West Country Club and went on to play for Orange Free State and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. He began playing for Gloucestershire in 1985 and stayed with them until his retirement in 1991.
In his time with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, he played in 162 First Class matches and 112 List-A matches.
The loss of such a talented cricketer loss has hit Gloucestershire County Cricket Club hard, making this sad time for all those that knew him. He had accomplished so much in his 6 years with Gloucestershire.
During his time with Somerset, he scored 4036 runs in 100 First-Class matches for Taunton. In List-A cricket, he has hit 1381 runs, with 4 of those scoring more than 50 points.
Needless to say, Jeremy Lloyds will be remembered for his incredible accomplishments throughout his career since his debut at 24, as well as his 25-year, international umpiring career.
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club shared on Twitter: “Everyone associated with Somerset County Cricket Club is deeply saddened to hear that former player Jeremy Lloyds has passed away.”
