After 431 days and counting without being rewarded a penalty, Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson feels “frustrated” that his side hasn’t received a chance to score from the spot.
Bristol City have contacted the Professional Game Match Officials (PGMOL) after another controversial refereeing decision that left the Robins scratching their heads as to how they were not awarded a penalty in their 1-1 draw against Swansea City last week.
Since then Sky Sports have reported that Bristol City contacted Championship referee Kevin Friend, who is a fan of the club, to request an investigation into why the club has not been rewarded a penalty.
Speaking on the matter, Pearson said: “We always have contact with them, one of the protocols we do after the games is filling in the match report and Kevin actually came in after a game a couple of weeks ago to go through some footage with us.
“The statistics show we are a huge outliner, it’s a massive anonymous anomaly, when you look at it in graph form its quite scary really but yes it does remain a frustration.

“We have felt that there have been loads of situations or events during games which have not gone our way.”
The last time Bristol City were awarded a penalty was November 6 2021 in 3-2 defeat to Coventry where Chris Martin slotted it home from 12 yards.
It has now got to the point where City fan Sam Roswell has set up the Bristol City Penalty Clock, a website that updates day by day until a penalty has been awarded to the club.
Pearson will now turn his attention to Saturday, where they take on Birmingham City at Ashton Gate Stadium in a must win game for the Robins.
