Cheltenham Saracens Assistant Manager Gerry Oldham hopes that his side can challenge for promotion in the second half of the season, speaking ahead of his side’s clash away at Long Crendon on Saturday.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Oldham explained the competitive nature of the league by saying that “any team in the league is capable of beating anyone” but that his side will be “well prepared” ahead of Saturday afternoon.
“We have a few players coming back from injury, and if we set up like we did against Milton in the last game in terms of our attitude, togetherness and our work rate then we’ve got a good chance (of getting all three points)”. Oldham told Park Life Sport.
Oldham also expressed the importance of many of the side’s important players returning from injury. Top goal scorer Stuart Midwinter returns as does Alfie Richmond, but Oldham said that the returning Ed Majors was vital as he was “a big miss” in the victory over Milton.
In regards to the second half of the season, Oldham believes that his side can have a successful finish.
“If I’m being honest I would like us to finish in the play-offs and challenge for promotion, we have a great side and some good leaders in the team.” He continued,” I think if everyone is available then hopefully we’ll be looking for a strong finish.”
A win for Saracens on Saturday would see them move up to sixth in the table with three games in hand and put them 19 points clear of Long Crendon.
