GPD Football: Gloucestershire’s newest player development company

Gloucestershire’s newest football company, Gloucestershire Player Development, is on the eve of start up as Harrison Ward looks to set up a ‘pathway’ for adults to get into teams.

Queens Park Rangers scout Harrison Ward has spent a great deal of time in Asia and North America in academies and identifying players across the globe looking to find talent.

The 29-year-old is looking to use his skills in which he picked up whilst over seas to help develop players into being better versions of themselves.

‘’What I’m going to try and do in my new project is find players of a good mindset to play higher. I want to get players into non-league teams and better the players and better themselves and be around people of the right mindsets.

‘’I’m looking at doing adult football, so 16 and up at the moment but I’ve been coaching every age group however, target wise is 16 and above if they’re good enough.’’

Gloucestershire is quite an untapped area as many of the clubs are non-league with the highest club being Cheltenham Town with a ground capacity of 7,200 in League One.

Working as a scout for Queens Park Rangers, Ward has set up good connections within the capital but thinks it could be beneficial to use them skills in Gloucester.

‘’I’ve only just moved here. Where ive done it before especially in London and I know the competition, the contacts in London for various different clubs as I’m a scout for QPR, so I’ve got the contacts there, so I know there is something in Gloucestershire.

‘’I had a few players from Bristol who came to Ipswich once and they said there is nothing here so I wanted to open a pathway.’’

Ward certainly has high aspirations for his new project as he hopes that he can build his company and make a name for himself in the region of Gloucestershire.
