Gloucester’s Premiership fixture against Newcastle at Kingsholm on Saturday will now be televised live after extreme weather conditions has caused their to be a rescheduling of fixtures this weekend.
The game between Exeter Chiefs and Saracens, which was originally expected to be televised on Saturday, has been postponed by 24 hours and will now be played on Sunday March 4 3PM at Sandy Park.
With a majority of the country currently affected due to the severe weather with Storm Emma following the infamous ‘Beast from the East’, it was announced that the fixture will be delayed by a day.
This has in turn led to a change in the schedule for BT Sport who will now show Gloucester’s game against Newcastle on Saturday at 3pm and Exeter Chiefs versus Saracens moved back to Sunday.
The game at Kingsholm between two play-off contenders is expected to go ahead with everything being done to make sure the game goes ahead, with the pitch even being protected by a large dome to keep it warm.
The operations team at Gloucester Rugby also planned in advance to make sure there is enough salt to look after the stadium and ensure spectators’ areas are safe for the game on Saturday.
Local authorities have warned residents of the Gloucestershire area to be careful if they are to go out and brave the cold with many recommending they stay at home.
