Gloucester City Queens will be looking to bounce back against Leicester Riders this weekend after their defeat to Caledonia Pride in Scotland.
The defeat means the Queens are now sat in ninth position in the table as they approach the half way stage of the Championship season.
The Queens will come with a boost though, as they host their first game back at Oxstalls after over a month of no home games.
It will be a tough challenge for Jay Marriott’s side as they face a Leicester team that have won seven times in their last nine outings, while the Queens form book reads very differently, with only one win in the last eight games.
Their run of form also includes the last meeting between the two teams, in which the Queens were defeated heavily 81-51.
The Riders were also victorious in the meeting prior, winning 81-46.
Speaking to the club ahead of the tie, Marriott said: “Coming off the game against Pride, we know there’s areas where we can improve.
“We’re putting in the work and focusing on the riders.”
After signing for the Queens last week, Molly James wasn’t included in the squad that was beaten in Scotland, however, is expected to be in the squad this time around.
One key player that Marriott will have to ensure his team keep locked down is Oceana Hamilton, who was named the Women’s British Basketball League’s player of the month.
With several games in hand on the teams above, a win this weekend would massively increase the Queens play-offs hopes, before facing Manchester Met Mystics at the start of next month.
The game will take place on Sunday at Oxstalls Sport Campus and is set to tip-off late afternoon.
