Gloucester City boss Marc Richards believes that his team have benefited from a break in football as they prepare to do battle in the National League South later this week.
The Tigers last match saw them suffer a 3-1 home defeat against Weston-super-Mare on January 6th, but Wealdstone United’s progression in the cup meant that Gloucester didn’t play last week.
However, given City’s poor form in the league this season a fortnight off to assess the best way forward has done a world of good, according to Richards.
“It has effectively given us four training sessions to keep working on the things we are good at and on parts of our game we need to improve,” said the Gloucester boss speaking in an exclusive interview to City’s official website.

“It allows us to look after some knocks and ensure that everyone is fully fit for the upcoming games.”
Next up for the Tigers is a trip to take on high-flyers Havant & Waterlooville and despite it appearing a bit of a mismatch with Gloucester currently sat in 19th place and their opponents in third, Richards believes they will be better prepared for the challenges on Saturday.
“It gives us an opportunity to get ahead on our opposition analysis and work on our game plan.”
