Get your volunteering on!

It’s Student Volunteering Week at the University of Gloucestershire and it’s not too late to start now!

They are giving awards to those who complete 50 hours of volunteering and will be entered into the monthly prize draws.

You can get employability awards from Bronze to Silver and to Gold, which is a bonus for your CV and some great experience. For the Bronze award you need to go to three Future Plan events and complete any work, volunteer or work experiences.

At the Future Plan Week last week there were many opportunities for students to do unpaid work both in Cheltenham and abroad.

Abbey Wilson, a film production student at the university, did volunteer work in Nepal last summer though Challenges Abroad who are in partnership with the university.

She found the experience challenging and took some time to organise a team and events, She was looking for a challenge and something that would make her stand out.

Abbey said: “I wanted to do something at uni that I’d never done before and I thought this would be something challenging and not just a social.”

You can email studentvolunteering@glos.ac.uk  for more information and to book any volunteering you are interested in doing and getting on your CV.
