Former Exeter City, MK Dons and current Forest Green Rovers defender Jordan Moore-Taylor to have injection to get him through the rest of the season

Forest Green Rovers head coach Mark Cooper has confirmed that defender Jordan Moore-Taylor will have an injection in his knee to get him through the rest of the season.

Moore-Taylor was absent from Rovers’ matchday squad against Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night and Cooper revealed post-match that the former Exeter City defender has been dealing with a knee injury for the last couple of months.

Cooper said: “He’s injured. He’s had a little bit of an ongoing knee issue for the last couple of months. He played at Carlisle and he was outstanding, but over the two-week break his knee hasn’t really got much better. He’s had a scan and there’s a little bit of work that needs doing in there at the end of the season. He’ll have an injection, we’ll manage it and hopefully he’ll be fit for our next game (Newport County away).”

Moore-Taylor has played 18 of Rovers’ 27 league games this season, but he missed a period in October due to having to self-isolate and a period in December due to a hamstring injury.

The versatile 27-year-old arrived in Gloucestershire last summer with a reputation for being injury-prone, having not played more than 25 league matches in a season since the 2016/17 campaign.

Dan Sweeney went off injured during Forest Green’s thrilling 4-3 win over Oldham on Tuesday, with Cooper saying that he was “very sore” immediately after the game.
