Forest Green Rovers defender Jordan Moore-Taylor insists his team can’t afford for complacency to set in ahead of another crucial fixture against Sutton United.
Having signed from MK Dons in the summer of 2020, Moore-Taylor has gone on to represent Rovers 53 times in the league and, but for a couple of minor injuries, has been unmoved from Edwards’ starting 11 so far this season.
It is setting up to be a historic season in the history of the football club, currently top of League Two. Yet despite a comfortable 10-point lead that Rovers have created, the 28-year-old has emphasised that the team still has work to do.
“It’s very important we don’t get ahead of ourselves, we haven’t completed the job yet and we’re still pushing,” said Moore-Taylor.
“We’re in a very good position but by no means is that done, we have to keep pushing until we get over the line and I think if we can say we’ve done it before, it will help the young squad we have.”
Tuesday’s win over Rochdale will have brought a lot of confidence to Edwards and his players, showing that they can still collect wins when they’re not at their best.

“We weren’t at our best but we still managed to pick up the three points, which is a big plus.”
Conceding just 23 goals this season in the league, the club’s defensive record has been pivotal for their success, with Moore-Taylor playing at the heart of a dynamic back five.
Set-pieces have been utilised by Rovers, who have one of the best records in the league both offensively and defensively, but Moore-Taylor credits assistant manager Richie Kyle for this feat.
“Richie is very big on it, we work hard on that every week,” Moore-Taylor continued.
“He sets us our targets and the lads have met them, the one I’m proudest of the most is the defensive one. We’ve almost been a bit sloppy with that recently so we’re looking to tighten that down even more.”

Moore-Taylor can be proud of the season he’s having and when asked to recall the last time he was playing so well, he explained: “Not for a few years, I struggled with injuries these last couple years but I always back myself if I get a run of games to get the consistency up to perform like I am.
“Obviously Rob and Richie have changed my game slightly, they gave me pointers and I’m seeing the benefits to it.”
Rovers face a tough test this weekend as they travel to South London to face fellow promotion chasers Sutton United, and with both sides unbeaten in 2022, Moore-Taylor and the rest of the team will have to be at the top of their game in order to bring all three points back to Nailsworth.
