Nothing beats a live rugby match in a pub. The Natwest Six Nations are in full swing as we get set for the third weekend of action. We’ve selected five of the best pubs in Cheltenham to catch all the action.
5 – Harry Cook Free House
Every game is live at Harry Cook’s, located in the Montpellier area of Cheltenham. A range of lagers and beers are on offer, including the locally-brewed Camden Hells. Harry Cook’s also have their own Six Nations beer. You can also tuck into some of the great food as well such as burgers and selection of sandwich boards.
4 – The Exmouth Arms
The Exmouth Arms on the Bath Road is probably one of the most relaxing pubs in Cheltenham. Rugby fans can enjoy the outstanding food such as sharers, rump steaks and burgers. You can also sample some Arkell ales and a fine selection of wines. The Exmouth Arms has a good outdoor space, but perhaps a little cold for February. There is also a sister pub with The Royal in Charlton Kings also offering live action.
3 – Frog and Fiddle
Probably the best place to watch the rugby for student’s. The Frog and Fiddle has been serving the people since 1995 and there are 14 live screens available to watch the Six Nations. Pool tables can offer more entertainment, but the best offer comes for students, with some cheaper deals for your usual pints.
Based in the heart of Cheltenham, Tailor’s has every game covered. You can immerse yourself in the rugby by watching through Tailor’s high definition screens. With two big screens, five plasma’s and nine separate televisions, you won’t be spoiled for choice. Tailor’s is an Eating House, with nibbles, burgers and pizzas on offer. Why not try the Bishop’s Tipple, a well-known strong ale whilst watching the match.
1 – The Suffolk Arms
A good pub to relax and watch the rugby. The Suffolk Arms on Suffolk Road offers more live sport such as football and cricket. The best food on offer are the variable amounts of pizza and you can even choose your own topping. Keg beers and local cask ales are the perfect partner for watching the match.
