Reigning skeleton champion Lizzy Yarnold, will carry the Team GB flag at the opening ceremony of this year’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
The University of Gloucestershire graduate won gold in Sochi back in 2014 and will carry the flag when the Games officially start on Friday.
The former Geography and Sport and Exercise Science student also carried the flag during the closing ceremony in Russia 4 years ago and told Sky Sports “this is the moment that I’ve been working hard for four years to be a part of as I know everyone else has. To be a flagbearer for them all is just a huge honour.”
This year’s Winter Olympics will be held in the South Korean county of PyeongChang and Yarnold admits she feels “at home”.
“Now I’m here in PyeongChang going down the track for the first time in six months yesterday, I do really feel at home.”
Yarnold is hoping to become the first Briton ever to successfully defend a Winter Olympic title when she competes in the women’s skeleton on February 16 and 17.
