Could he help the Southern Football League Division One outfit push for promotion? The 26 year-old was signed from Cinderford last week and he featured during Evesham’s 1-0 home victory over Paulton.
A singular Mat Liddiard goal handed the hosts all three points as they rose to fourth in the table as Paulton ended the game with 10-men, with Liam Monelle sent for his marching orders.
Lewis was an academy player at the Swans, but was released at the age of 16. He has two different spells at Cinderford and has been impressive under the influence of Foresters manager Paul Michael.
With Evesham now up to fourth in the league table, he could well help to supplement their push for promotion, and showed what a top defender he can be in the win over Paulton on the weekend as they made it four games unbeaten and will hope to now continue his good start in a Evesham shirt and become a regular starter at the Jubilee stadium.
Following the move, Cinderford manager Paul Michael expressed his disappointing of Lewis’ departure and thanked the player in a club statement, via the official Cinderford football club website.
He said: “I would like to personally thank Andy Lewis for his contribution to our season so far and for his contribution to the development of our group. Andy has not missed a single session since his arrival including all of pre-season, his attitude on and off the pitch has been exemplary he has set standards for the young players to follow if they want to be successful in the game, hence his appointment as Captain.
“Evesham are getting a fantastic footballer and more than that a genuine, honest character, someone with the potential to help develop the dressing room atmosphere at the club and I wish him every success. Of course we wanted to keep Andy, but the offer made to him was one that, understandably, he felt impossible to refuse, and he goes with our best wishes. Good luck Andy & thank you.”
