European Rugby: English clubs still waiting on French government travel regulations

English clubs Sale Sharks, Bath, Scarlets and Newcastle Falcons are still on high alert regarding the movements of the French government and their guidelines on inbound travel.

As it stands, if you want to travel to France you must isolate for 48 hours before you can go outside. Coupled with this non-negotiable requirement, you are given a PCR test and must provide a negative test result before leaving your isolation.

This could potentially cause some problems for the English teams. They would have to either arrive mid-week, isolate for two days and then play straight-away or they would arrive several days beforehand, isolate and then have one or two days to train and play.

This is assuming a best-case scenario and none of the players test positive. If a player were to test positive, they’d risk being stranded in France until their isolation comes to an end.

The French Sport Ministry are attending a governmental meeting later today to bring up the issues raised by the English clubs and hopefully get the 48 hour isolation requirement lifted.
