Dursley v Tredworth: Karl Nash and Lee Smith looking to entertain fans in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League clash

Karl Nash and Lee Smith say they’re ready for a tough battle on Saturday as Dursley Town take on league leaders, Tredworth Tigers, at The Rec.

Saturday sees an early season top of the table clash in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One as Dursley look to go level on points with Tredworth.

Nash and Smith both have similar intentions heading into this showdown looking to attack from the off and create a spectacle for the fans.

“It will be a tough one. It is always a tough one.

“The advantage is with us obviously being at home  but like I said, we take nothing for granted. They are going to come down all guns blazing.

“It will a very good game for those people that will watching, let me tell you that,”. Nash said.

“We’re going to give it our best shot on Saturday and see if that’s going to be good enough because it is a tough place to go Dursley,” Smith said.

Both sides have experienced fantastic starts to their Northern Senior campaigns with neither side yet to taste defeat in their opening seven games.

As a result, Dursley and Tredworth are separated by just three points heading into Saturday’s game with Nash’s side having a game in a hand on Tredworth.

“We have relished the task that has been in front of us and taken every game as it comes.

“The boys have stepped up to the task and trained really hard. I think we are getting our rewards for it now being unbeaten,” Nash said.

“We’ve started the season well. I think me and Adam Dix have got it right so far, but it is early days, and we keep ticking the games off one by one,” Smith said.

The only defeats that either side have suffered this season have come in the Reg Davis Memorial Cup.

Dursley exited the tournament in the quarterfinals at the hands of Northern Senior Division Two side, Frampton United Reserves, who impressively sunk Nash’s team to a 3-1 defeat.

Tredworth dominated the tournament scoring 20 goals in three games on their way to the final while also only conceding twice.

But Smith’s side suffered last minute heartbreak as they were defeated 2-1 in the final against Brockworth Albion, with player-manager Smith scoring the only goal for his side from spot.

“We are gutted to of lost the final. For the squad more really but we’ve moved on and bounced back in the right manor and that’s pleasing for myself and Dixie [Adam Dix- assistant manager] and the management team,”  Smith said.

Being so early on in the season, neither manager is too concerned with what a defeat could mean with Smith assured the result will not affect the outcome of their seasons.

“Whatever the result Saturday won’t define either one of our seasons,” Smith said.

Dursley Town take on Tredworth Tigers in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Div One at The Rec on Saturday. Kick-off is 2:00pm.
