For the last couple months Arsenal have been continuously linked with a transfer for the Shaktar Donetsk winger, as he is having a brilliant season so far in Ukraine.
The Gunners have already had two confirmed bids rejected with the latest totalling 60 million euros and the club are working continuously hard to secure the Ukrainian international’s service.
The 22 year old has eight caps for his country, and has 10 goals and nine assists to his name in all competitions this season and has been scouted by many clubs across europe.
Mikel Arteta is still looking to bring in reinforcements despite his side being five points clear at the top of the Premier League, especially after the injury to striker Gabriel Jesus.
This season is a real possibility for Arsenal to bring home their first title in nearly 20 years, the last being the Invincibles season in 2003/2004.
However, looking at Arsenal’s bench in some games, there is not much fire power to bring on in comparison to second place Manchester City, as only Reiss Nelson has scored from being brought on from the bench in the Premier League, a tally which is far too low should they want to win the league.
Another outlier between the top two in England’s first division is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker has already scored 21 League goals this season, which is one of the highest tally last season. He guarantees you goals, which is something Arsenal don’t possess.
Mudryk’s profile may be exactly what Arsenal need to help them get over the finish line come the end of the season, an explosive/dynamic player to bring on, either when chasing games, or to run at tired legs when winning by a few goals.
The player would bring some much needed depth to an attack which beyond the starting front three is rather bare, and could get even tighter should another play sustain an injury.
Mikel Arteta will most likely have to splash more money than they would like on their number one target, but it could be a more than worthy investment should they finish at the summit of England’s top division.
The winger could provide the Spaniard with the ability to rotate his lineup even more, especially when Europa League football returns in February, which will make for more midweek fixtures that the Gunners will have to deal with.
It is a deal that is more likely than not to go through and could be crucial for Arsenal’s season, although they will most likely have to pay over the odds as Shaktar are looking for close to 100 million Euros.
Overall, the potential signing of Mudryk would be a smart acquisition considering the current state of The Gunner’s season and what is on the line for them, it could be the difference between winning the league and falling just short at the last hurdle.
They may have to overpay to get their man, however Arsenal do need to bring reinforcements in to compete with the footballing juggernaut created by Pep Guardiola. Someone to change the game when the going gets tough, and help keep the attack fresh to avoid tired legs.
